Ventura County Firefighter Released From Burn Center

The last of the three Ventura County firefighters injured while fighting the Jesusita Fire in Santa Barbara was released this week from a Sherman Oaks burn center, authorities said. Firefighter Robert Lopez, 44, is recovering at home. He is a proud member of Ventura County Professional Firefighters Local #1364.

CPF Responds to Special Election Results

In one of the lowest-turnout elections in California history, voters vented their frustration with the state's political leadership by rejecting Propositions 1A through 1E. In response to the election results, CPF President Lou Paulson said the election results complicate the task of fixing California's broken budget system.

Fire Foundation Sponsors American Heart Assn. Luncheon

Recognize the symptoms of a heart attack and call 9-1-1 as early as possible. This was the message that CFFJAC Women's Commissioner Lisa Beaty brought home to the crowd of over 400 women that gathered at the annual American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Luncheon in Sacramento. The California Fire Foundation was a top sponsor of this event.

2009 Recruitment Fairs Attract New Candidates to Firefighting

When the going gets tough, the tough choose firefighting. Nearly 1,000 young men and women did, packing the 2009 Firefighter Recruitment Fairs at the Candidate Physical Ability Testing (CPAT) Centers in Sacramento, Livermore and Orange. It was hosted by the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (CFFJAC), which is co-sponsored by CPF.
