The fires of 2007 have given a new urgency to address what needs to be done to protect Californians from the threat of wildland fire. Toward that end,
California Professional Firefighters has joined with CalChiefs in a
Blue Ribbon Task Force. The Task Force -- an outgrowth of the 2003 Fires -- held its first post-fires meeting and identified a range of priorities, including upgrades in staffing, equipment and a new approach to land use. At that November 6th gathering, CPF, CAL FIRE Firefighters joined with management and state agencies to identify the core priorities for the group: staffing, equipment and land use.
